Democrats owned the actual plantations along with the many slaves who lived, worked, suffered, and died there. This historical fact has been memory-holed by the current overseers of the new urban plantations. The whip is gone, but the humiliation and degradation continue apace. In some ways today’s plantations are harder to understand because the slaves are willing hostages. The chains were broken long ago, but they remain, powerless, too many cowering in rat and gang infested Soviet style tenements and monoracial ghettos. Disproportionately poor and undereducated, they willingly hand up their babies to be murdered by the newest Democrat overseers.
Every policy and platform of the Democrat Party is tailored to maintain the new plantations. Their words are flowery, caring, paternal. “We’ll take care of you, we’ll help you, you can’t do this without us. We’ll set quotas. Here’s some free stuff; food, housing, health care, transportation, education, child care, job training, Obama phones, … Can you see, can you feel, how much we care? You’re a victim. There’s nothing you can do.”
They’re also incendiary. “The rich white people won’t let you succeed, the game is rigged, we’ve got to take it from them and only we, the Democrats, will wrest away the reparations you deserve. Capitalism is evil, destroy it! Whaddawe want? Dead cops. When do we want them, now!” But when you look at the results of this last half century of self-serving Democrat Party paternalism, post Civil Rights, post Great Society, post War on Poverty, the picture is devastating. The Railer has long said that the Democrats have destroyed black families and communities in ways that the KKK could never have imagined. Little has changed since that thought first formed.
It is probably worth reminding the low information reader that Democrats wrote the Jim Crow laws, erected barriers to black voters, opposed integration, and made the KKK. The KKK was staffed and managed exclusively by the Democrat Party. We should call the KKK the military wing of the Party and it served that role for more than a Century. This is not in dispute. In fact, innumerable Klansmen held prominent positions in the Democrat Party. Of recent note was Democrat Senator Robert “KKK” Byrd. The former Klan Exalted Cyclops was THE longest serving member of Congress, ever. He served as Democrat Senate Minority or Majority Leader for decades. RKKKB, along with 20 other Senate Democrats (talking about you Al Gore Senior), filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Act. They’d like you to forget that fact.
The Devil finally called RKKKB down in 2010, senile but still warming his senate chair at age 92. The Railer does not miss his pompous drivel and faux gravitas that so enthralled and mesmerized his caucus. The Railer would bet though that in his prime he could burn a mean cross. His uncanny resemblance to Star War’s Emperor Palpatine, aka Darth Sidious, is simply too good not to mention.
The Railer doesn’t claim title to this topic or phrase, but it was an independent personal realization made decades ago through simple observation. Google “Democrat Plantation” and you’ll still see more than 4.5 million links. Guess the Google censors have been too busy to completely purge this thoughtcrime from the public arena. Star Parker, a black female conservative and author, wrote the book on it. Her 2003 title Uncle Sam’s Plantation: How Big Government Enslaves America’s Poor and What We Can Do About It, is just one of many on the subject.
Candace Owens, also a black female conservative, voices similar warnings in her talks and writings. She roused quite a stir in 2017 with a video called “How to Escape the Democrat Plantation,” and coined the term “Blexit,” a call for blacks to leave the Democrat Party. It’s probably not a surprise that the strongest attacks come from black conservatives. Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams, both renowned economists, back their arguments with cold facts and hard numbers. It is hard to hurl the “racist” label at critics of the modern plantation model when so many smart and articulate thinkers-of-color agree.
The Railer will make “The Ways of the Plantation” a recurring feature. We’ll explore Democrat Party policies and connect the dots to black America’s enduring troubles. In time, the open-minded reader might question how much of the Democrat Party ethos is well-intentioned but ruinous policy, or, simple and deliberate evil. Are Democrats honestly oblivious to the consequences of their endless parade of failed programs? Or, as the 1619 Project wants us to know, are we inaugurating their 5th consecutive century of racist malevolence? If the results are the same either way, does the motivation really matter? When will the inhabitants of today’s urban plantations hold the Democrat Party accountable?
