“Everything in the State, nothing outside the State, nothing against the State.”
So said Italy’s 20th Century fascist dictator, Benito Mussolini. His distillation remains one of the most enduring definitions of fascist totalitarianism. Liberals love to call their political opponents Nazi’s and Fascists, but it rings hollow with even a cursory review of the American left’s agenda and methods.
Like previous fascist movements, our liberal fascists have a military wing. Using Orwell’s Newspeak, where all meanings are inverted, they call themselves Anti-Fascists, shortened to Antifa. If they are “Anti-Fascists” then where are the “Fascists” that they’re fighting?
White supremacists? There are maybe 10 or 20 of those nationwide. Since the Democrats stopped franchising their KKK, white supremacists are rarer than a Devils Hole pupfish. Is Antifa fighting fascist city and state governments? Nope. Antifa riots occur in and against cities where Democrats control every lever of power.
If there is a focus to Antifa’s ire, it is conservatives, Jews, businesses large and small, and law enforcement. They wear black, attack democratic institutions and innocent people, rewrite history, embrace totalitarianism, destroy property, and commandeer public spaces through force. Antifa, unlike their 20th Century forefathers, bring an interesting wrinkle to the old formula. They are Marxists fighting against individual liberty. The Democrat Party has been trending in this direction for 100 years now, but with Bernie Sanders (Mr. I spent my honeymoon in Communist Soviet Russia) at the cusp of party plurality, it is no longer deniable.

Which party believes in individual liberty, free agency, choice?
Liberty. Democrats hate individual liberties. Democrat elites are smarter than you and they know what’s good for you. They want you to be like “Julia,” where every life milestone invites government intervention. Liberty is granted only grudgingly by statists, at the whim of the all-knowing and all-powerful. Such conceit always ends in ruin.
Republicans, like our Founders, believe that our liberties are God given, not subject to the fallible judgment of man. We are entitled to our rights by birth. Republicans believe that government’s main responsibility is the protection of your individual rights, your property, and the fruits of your labor. There is ample opportunity for cooperation and charity within that model, but no room for coercion. Democrats love to casually throw around the fascist label, but upon whom does it actually fit?
